Newcomer Ella Mai has fans boo’d up everywhere. The rising songstress has earned her first No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart with her self titled debut album. In a week span ending on October 18th, the DJ Mustard protégé earned 69,000 equivalent album units according to Nielsen Music. The recent announcement earned the 16-song output that was released on 10 Summers/Interscope Records, to simultaneously debut at No. 4 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard 200. The British singer-songwriter’s Ella Mai is host to breakout singles "Boo'd Up" and "Trip.” R&B’s hot new artist, enters the Hot R&B songs chart by logging five additional tracks including “Gut Feeling” featuring H.E.R. (No. 11), the John Legend assisted record “Everything” (No. 14), “Good Bad” (No. 18), “Shot Clock” (No. 20), and “Sauce” (No. 23). Previous release “Naked” and the Chris Brown assisted “Whatchmacallit” are both climbing the charts, respectively hitting No. 17 and No.7. Totaling nine songs on the chart. It’s been a great year for 10 Summers signee as she enjoys her breakout success. Earlier this year, “Boo’d Up” earned her the significance of the female artist with the most time at the No. 1 spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart while dominating the Hot R&B Songs chart for 13 weeks straight! It’s safe to say for next year’s 2019 ceremonies, Ella Mai deserves award nominations for Best New Artist. Keep an eye out for more new music!
