Iyanla Vanzant Turns Down R. Kelly Saying He Doesn't Meet the Prerequisites For The Show

Iyanla Vanzant has been fixing the lives of celebrities, media moguls, and more for years now. Since the world-shaking six part docuseries on Lifetime has been released, fans have been urging for R. Kelly to appear on her show, Iyanla Vanzant:Fix My Life. Fans weren’t the only one asking, the R&B heavyweight has asked for her assistance as well but it turns out he was turned down. According to Iyanla, Kelly’s doesn’t have the prerequisites necessary for him to appear on her show. When sitting down with ABC News,’ Candice Williams, Iyanla explains:

He didn't meet one of the criteria that we had for guests... Are they willing? Are they ready? Do they have the capacity to do the work? He didn't have it, the emotional capacity, he just didn't have it. And I knew, based on what I was looking at—the paces that I would have to take him through—it would have been brutal. He didn't have the capacity."

Fans not only have been badgering her about the R&B icon, but for the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ victims as well. Iyanla politely asked fans to stop calling on her to help. She goes on to say:

"Stop texting me telling me to work with the survivors. What's the fix? There's no fix other than them doing their healing where they get to the place where they can recapture their worth, their innocence, their dignity to the point where they can forgive. They ain't there yet."

It seems as though Iyanla understand that this situation is bigger than her and the show. Both Kells and the victims need deep healing and counseling to get through this tragedy. In another recent interview with Sway on Sway’s Universe, the television life coach further discusses her options and thoughts on the R. Kelly situation. Watch the interview below.
