2019 is the year of J.Cole and Dreamville! Last year, Cole kicked off the momentum that he’d bring into the new year with the release of his fifth studio album, KOD. Since, he’s been slaughtering features and cooking up heat by gathering all of Hip-hop’s heavyweights for Dreamville's Revenge Of The Dreams III. Following the preparation of the upcoming compilation album, he drops his first single of the year “Middle Child” last week.
His winning streak continues, as NBA just announced that the Dreamville founder is headlining the All-Star Halftime Show while the Dreamchasers boss Meek Mill is holding down the introduction. The All-Star game will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 17, 2019 so it only makes sense to have the NC native to headline the show. Cole has showcased his love for basketball since the beginning of his career. He set up a basketball-themed narrative for his mixtapes The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights. He kept the theme going by following up with Cole World: The Sideline Story for his debut album. Now, Cole’s love for the sport will collide with his career with a hot performance for the biggest event in the NBA prior to the Finals.
Meek is set to perform for the introduction of the All-Star teams while another Charlotte native, Anthony Hamilton, will perform the National Anthem. After the national anthem is sung, Carly Rae Jepsen will follow up with the Canadian national anthem. The NBA All-Star game will air on TNT on Sunday, February 17th, 2019. Make sure to tune in to catch a great game with a strong star-studded performance line-up.
