The NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show has been being boycotted by the culture for some time now following the blackball of Colin Kaepernick from the league. This has led to many powerful and influential entertainers like Jay -Z, Rihanna, Common, Meek Mill and others to continue to take a stance against the NFL and turn down the halftime show performance.
During Sunday’s ass whooping between the Chargers and Patriots, the NFL officially announced that Travis Scott and Outkast’s Big Boi will be joining Maroon 5 on the halftime stage and in response the media, industry, and fans were very disappointed at the two rappers being placed on the bill. Not because fans don’t want to hear their music or see them put on a great show, but because of the NFL’s ongoing fight against Kaepernick in both the court of public opinion and the court of law.
The entertainment and media news outlet, TMZ, recently caught up with Atlanta super producer, Jazze Pha, and he teases about a couple of guest performers on his way back from the Super Bowl rehearsals. He goes on to say, “ I think Lil’ Jon and Jermaine Dupri and everyone will make it hot…” He caught himself and followed up with “Oh there are other people. It’s a whole… you ain’t seen nothing like it.” There’s no telling who from the ‘A’ may pop out and step on stage during Super Bowl XLIII halftime since its being held in ATL at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Depending on who hits the stage, any negative and swift reactions from the pro-Kap supporters will be felt. All we know is that Travis’ PR team has to clean up the mess that was made after the “ASTROWORLD” rapper stated he spoke with Colin before accepting, and come to find out Colin in fact did not support his halftime show performance. Stay tuned as the story continues to develop.
