Netflix Released The Trailer For Beyoncé- Directed Documentary 'HOMECOMING'

The Netflix trailer for the Beyoncé-directed documentary, Homecoming, that takes us through her now-iconic Coachella performance, dropped Monday morning (April 8th). Although Beyoncé’s voice is absent from the trailer, it promises to be more than just a touch of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. Instead, the images are dubbed over with snippets from a Maya Angelou interview.

The Homecoming: a Film by Beyoncé trailer features videos of Beyoncé preparing for her 2018 concert, an homage to historically black colleges and universities specifically, but to the African-American and diasporic experience more broadly. In the trailer, footage shows Blue Ivy following in her mom’s dancing footsteps as she goes through choreography. While Bey and her dancers are practicing chair choreography, 7-year-old Blue Ivy is front and center rehearsing the same moves as she whips her hair back and forth.

We even get glimpses of Beyoncé’s twin babies, Rumi and Sir stealing the show as they make a quick cameo while their mom gives them kisses and plays with them. We also see the Queen Bey training and directing the band. There are also moving clips of dancers and band-members practicing, posing, braiding each other’s hair, and dapping each other up.

The 2 hour-plus film promises an “intimate, in-depth look” at the celebrated 2018 Coachella performance, revealing Beyoncé’s “emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement,” Netflix teased. It’s time to get in formation because the documentary will be available on the streaming platform Wednesday, April 17!
