The Marathon Continues At The 2019 BET Awards As Nipsey Hussle Is Honored



The marathon continues at the 2019 BET Awards as Nipsey Hussle will be honored with posthumous humanitarian award. The late great rapper will be celebrated for his humanitarian work and the huge role he played in his community and in the culture.


Neighbor Nip dedicated years giving back to his community in South Los Angeles as an activist, philanthropist, and businessman. The devoted son, brother, father, friend and partner worked hard to advance his community, by finding employment for underprivileged groups through real estate investments, helping fund science and tech learning centers for teens, and violence prevention.


In addition to the award presentation, the 19th annual show will also include tribute performances by YG, John Legend and DJ Khaled, who in fact enlisted the rapper for his Father of Asahd track "Higher." Additionally, the beloved MC, is nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the awards.


Past Humanitarian Award recipients have included Chance the Rapper, Denzel Washington, Al Sharpton, Steve Harvey, and Dwyane Wade.


The 2019 BET Awards, hosted by Regina Hall, will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, at 8 p.m. EST On Viacom Networks featuring star studded performances from Cardi B, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lizzo, Mustard, and more.
