A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Tops The Charts With Lowest Selling Album In History

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie earns his first ever No.1 album with ‘HOODIE SZN,’ despite having the lowest selling album numbers. With his sophomore effort, A Boogie landed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. For the last two weeks, his latest release logged in at the No.2 spot. This week the 20-track collection bumps up to top the chart by shifting 58,000 equivalent album units (56,000 of those units came from streaming).

Even though this is a great accomplishment for the “Drowning” emcee, his project has the lowest selling numbers in chart history with only 823 physical copies sold -- the smallest weekly sales total for a chart-topping record. Significantly lower than the previous record for the lowest sales of a no.1 album, which was held by 21 Savage's ‘I Am > I Was,’ which sold 3,841 copies in a week last month.

This proves that the way we calculate sales has progressed. The digital era has taken over, and with the combination of physical copies sold added with the 83 million streams across multiple streaming music platforms, ‘HOODIE SZN’ has actually sold almost 60,000 copies. Four tracks off of HOODIE SZN appeared on the Hot 100 including, “Swervin” featuring Tekashi 6ix9ine. With that being said, who is still purchasing CDs in 2019?
