Rising out of Bushwick, a northern neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, is multifaceted Jamaican-American artist, Chase PE$O. The singer, songwriter, rapper, director and record producer’s name comes from his culturally diverse background. His prestigious family has been in the industry for years so music has always played a major role in his life. Growing up as the cousin of legendary Hip-Hop group members GZA, RZA, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard from Wu-Tang, it only made sense to continue the legacy.
Chase PE$O stepped in the game back in 2008 when he gained exposure as a member of the Hip-Hop group “Renegades” with his childhood friends. Relocating to ATL in 2010, he continued to pursue his music career as a songwriter and solo artist. He worked with competitive writing teams and renown artists like Akon, Roscoe Dash, the list goes on. Also, curating a variety of tracks for numerous genres likes Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, House, EDM, and more.
Fall of 2012, Chase released his debut solo EP, Love or Lust. The entire project was produced by Atlanta’s hitmaker Young Mercy, who’s known for working with Hip-Hop heavyweights Future,Gucci Mane, and Migos just to name a few.
Keeping up the momentum, the Bushwick creator released his second body of work in 2015 titled Glass Jars & Butterfly Tops. Receiving worldwide acclaim for its lyricism, conscious elements, and incorporating different style of music, the album was being talked about as an “instant classic” from undergoing Hip-Hop critics. Since his last EP, Chase has released two Mixtapes. The Shmood mixtape dropped May of 2016, bringing a new sound to the fans who were use to his previous rap records. Instead, the mixtape featured an electric sound paired with auto-tune vocals.
Chase and his M.U.L.A Society Lifestyle label mates independently released the compilation album, Welcome To Mulaville in March of 2017. With the assistance of their lead single “Pablo,” the album has been streamed over 100,000 times on Soundcloud. The visual for the lead single currently exceeds over 10,000 views.
Since the formation of his group M.U.L.A Society in early 2016, Chase PESO has done over 200 performances all over! Major cities like NYC, the Tri-State area, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Texas. He has opened up for hip-hop trendsetters like Wu-Tang Clan, A$AP Rocky, Mike Zombie, Joey Bada$$, and Joel Ortiz.
Chase PESO is currently on a promotional tour for his hit single “Chico DeBarge” (June 2016) off his third musical installment, a five track EP titled, Knee Deep In Shallow Waters. Since it’s release it has amassed over 125k total streams with over 48,000 coming from Spotify alone. With the success of the original record and aid from Lynoel “Kay K” Rosemond (Manager of Erykah Badu, and Chico DeBarge) Chase was able to create a fire remix which is set to release this summer. His connections secured vocals from Brooklyn artist Maino and legendary Neo-Soul singer Chico DeBarge himself. Stay locked, you won’t want to miss the remix.
