Lil Wayne Announces OFFICIAL Release Date

Weezy F Baby, and the “F” is for FINALLY! Since announcing the project nearly six years ago and mentioning that it would be his last album, Lil Wayne will officially be releasing the long awaited ‘Tha Carter V’ this week! On September 25th, at 5:00pm, the New Orleans emcee took to social media for a “special surprise.” The surprise was a three minute video clip of Wayne discussing the album, the official release date and more. The video starts with Wayne hopping out of a Hummer truck with his trusted double-cup as the camera follows him into his studio. As he walks in, Lil Wayne goes on to clear up any misunderstandings regarding the release of his upcoming project which was widely rumored to be released last Friday, September 21st. He says:

"I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of Tha CV... I would like for y'all to know that since y'all stuck with me for like the last four or five years, through all of this, y'all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback.” "On my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday. Now, if you don't know when my birthday is, Wikipedia does. Wiki me, bish” he continued.

Concluding the short clip, Weezy wholeheartedly thanks his fans for supporting him through the years and sticking through the rise, fall and rise again of his relationship with mentor and Young Money co-founder Birdman. The legal battle between Wayne and Birdman caused a delay on the project’s release. The lawsuit eventually concluded in July 2018 which led to Lil Wayne becoming the sole owner of Young Money. Weezy also included a link to his website, thacarterv.com, which includes a countdown clock to the long-awaited album drop.

"Every ounce of anything I have left in my heart, it goes to y'all. Honestly, my fans, the supporters, the world. Of course, it's my family and God first, and I am nothing, absolutely nothing without my fans," he said.

If you don’t know or didn’t get a chance to google Weezy’s birthday, it’s safe to assume that the LP will be released when the clock strikes midnight on Friday,September 27th. Which happens to be his 36th birthday. After such an extended wait for the upcoming album, do you think this will still be his last album and that he will retire from Hip-Hop? Make sure to stay tuned to the site for more on Weezy’s “Tha Carter V” after the release ! Watch the video of Lil Wayne announcing the release date for Tha Carter V below.
