Lebron James is not new to this, he’s true to this. Lebron has become a tastemaker in the rap game with co-signs from rappers in the past when it comes to emerging and established artists. Now he’s leveling up and making things official by serving as an A&R for 2 Chainz’s upcoming album, Rap or Go to the League.
The ATL rhymer’s project is set to drop Friday, March 1st and today (February 19th), Chainz announced that James has been working hard at helping to put together the album since last year. He looks to James and says:
“I think it’ll be shocking for people go to know how much input you had on it. You’ve been on for the whole year.”
Following this great experience, Lebron can now add A&R to his list of accomplishments when it comes to hip hop. In case you don’t recall, he is widely credited for his efforts in convincing Kendrick Lamar to release untitled, unmastered back in 2016. Along with Lamar, rappers like Drake and Meek Mill have also sought out Lebron’s feedback prior to their musical releases.
2 Chainz has yet unveiled the tracklist for Rap or Go to the League but it’s likely that recent singles like “Bigger Than You,” “Hot Wings,” and “Girl’s Best Friend” could all be heard on the forthcoming release. This will be the first project since his 2017 Pretty Girls Like Trap Music.
We are excited to see what these two cooked up in the lab. It's going to be a well put together project since its two ballers who love hip hop. Stay tuned, album dropping soon!
