Young Thug almost didn’t make the Grammys. Just a few hours before the award show ceremony, the 'Barter 6' rapper was placed into handcuffs but wasn’t brought into a jail cell for holding by showtime.
Earlier in the day on Sunday, Thugger and a group of men were pulled over for a driving violation in WeHo reports tell TMZ. There aren’t any specific details as to why, but in a video you can see Young Thug and the other men are lined up outside of the McDonalds and are being handcuffed. At one point, Thug also had his hands over his head.
Sources from TMZ say one of the men in the vehicle, not Thug, told police that he was in possession of a registered firearm. Upon further investigation, cops found that in fact the gun wasn't registered in California, so the guy got arrested on the spot. Everyone else was cut loose.
It was a blessing that YT was able to walk away from that traffic violation that seemed to have gone left real quick, because he was part of the opening act later that night alongside Camila Cabello. He's the featured artist on her song, "Havana.” He also ended up winning his first ever Grammy for his contribution to Childish Gambino's "This Is America," which won Song of the Year. Young Thug was one of many MCs who provided under lying vocals for the track. We are glad to see Thugger was able to get off scot-Free and enjoy his night at The Grammys!
